Individual Counseling: Our counseling services are free and confidential and are available for anyone who is a resident of Manatee County and is in an abusive relationship, leaving an abusive relationship, or recovering from an abusive relationship.
Support Groups: Our support groups provide participants with domestic violence related educational resources/information. The topics may include, but are not limited to: Coping with or ending a relationship; Getting over the anger, hurt, confusion; Going forward and reclaiming self esteem.
Some groups that are currently available:
Evaluating Unhealthy Relationships: An ongoing educational support group in collaboration with Women's Resource Center of Manatee about setting boundaries in relationships, making safe & healthy decisions for yourself and understanding the wide range of abusive & controlling relationships.
Spanish Speaking Support Group: A support group that discusses topics such as warning signs of a potentially abusive relationships, the cycle of abuse, the dynamics of power and control, safety planning, self-esteem and the role culture plays in the perception of emotional and financial abuse in relationships.
Parenting Classes (Court Ordered) Class is available to Manatee County residents who are or have been a victim of domestic violence and are court-ordered to attend a parenting class. Domestic violence is not always physical harm. Abusive behaviors may include name calling, "putdowns", threats to hurt family members, being isolated from family & friends, harming animals, destroying mementos, throwing objects, stalking, making all the financial decisions, etc.
